Live Different

​

Live Different Builds give volunteers from across Canada the opportunity to make a difference in the developing world as we build houses, schools, and complete other much needed projects. We partner with local organizations on the ground in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Thailand, where we work with community leaders to help us ensure that our programs are effective and sustainable in our host communities. This program allows our volunteers to see first-hand how two-thirds of the world lives, expands their worldview, and gives them the opportunity to consider how they can build hope and make change in their own lives.

KELLY'S 2017 LIVE DIFFERENT BUILD EXPERIENCE

​

In November of 2017 I traveled with 18 Big Brothers Big Sisters staff, and Mentor's from across the country to a small community in Sousa, Dominican Republic. To say this was an amazing experience would be a great understatement. With the hard work, dedication, an amazing team, and love in our hearts we not only built two houses for two very deserving and needy families we created friendships and bonds (with each other and the local community) to last a life time. I'm looking forward to this years build to see how our friends from last year are enjoying their new homes and all the good that has come for them with having a safe, dry place to lay their heads at night and gather for family meals, but also to meet new families and help to change more lives by providing something most of us take for granted...a roof over our heads and a front door that we can lock to keep us safe.
